Lingual braces are placed on the back of the teeth so they do not show at all. This system is particularly well-suited for adults who want to improve the appearance of their teeth without letting anyone know about their treatment
Lingual braces are not suitable for every patient - they don’t solve all orthodontic problems and require considerable dexterity & expertise by the clinician. The tongue may become irritated and sore initially. Speech can be affected, causing a lisp or a whistling sound in the first few weeks. Eating may be difficult as the teeth are held apart by the braces for the first few months.
Lingual braces however represent a viable option for adults considering orthodontics.
